The nervous system is a big buzz word right now, and for good reason. Your ANS (autonomic nervous system) is always “on” sensing for safety, connection, or threat.
This powerful system impacts and influences all the other systems of your body.
This is especially important with regards to mothering and parenting. New babies build their brains in connection with those around them and each child has a unique wiring that mothers can track and adjust expectations accordingly.
In this 2 hour class you will learn:
How the polyvagal theory applies to the specific and sacred time of mothering and parenting young children
The physiological states of sympathetic activation and parasympathetic immobilization
What it means — short and long term — to fight, flee, fawn, freeze and collapse
What attunement is and how to actively cultivate it for effective, impactful co-regulation.
How breastfeeding, sleep and diet impacts autonomic health
How your autonomic state relates to past trauma and impacts all other systems of your body
How your autonomic state impacts your infant and child
How your culture’s norms/state impacts you, your infant and child
The role of the vagus nerve in autonomic function
How to recognize the difference between story and state
The origins and physiology behind safety and growth
How to map and track your unique system so that you may learn to map and track others
What neuroplasticity is and how it applies to you and your child’s unique system
Simple exercises and methods to restore autonomic function
